Adoption Update: Bunk (was Chase)

Hi, Angie.

I was thinking that it'd been a really long time since I updated you on Chase (we call him The Bunk) and that you might like to hear how he's doing. He's been with us a little over a year, and we love him to death! He's long and lanky and a total goofball most of the time. He's also incredibly sweet, great with kids and popular with everyone who meets him. His vet is crazy about him.

Though both of his front legs were broken in an accident before we adopted him, you'd never know it now. He doesn't have so much as a limp, and he rarely slows down for a moment. His favorite thing to do -- other than pestering his sister Nocci, our 8-year-old beagle -- is to gnaw on any one of the two dozen rawhide bones he's scattered all over our house and yard. There's a big circle of them in the backyard that we've started calling Bonehenge. I guess he herds them in place of sheep, which are forbidden by our homeowner's association. He loves to curl up in my husband's lap -- Kirk even had a professional portrait done of the two of them (so much for our wedding photos). He has some really funny quirks. Like if you're walking around the house, he'll take his head and shove it into your right hand and nibble on your fingers to get your attention. And if you're sitting down but not giving him your full attention, he likes to put a paw in your lap to remind you that he's there. And he's terrified of plastic grocery bags -- I guess he's a staunch environmentalist.
He's taught us a lot -- primarily don't leave garden hoses lying around the back yard (he's skinned and gutted three so far) and don't leave a freshly baked quiche near the edge of the kitchen counter. But even when he violates the house rules, he's so sweet and loving that we really can't stay mad at him!

Thank you so much for rescuing him and entrusting him to us. We're crazy about him and can't imagine life without him.

--- Edie (and Kirk)
