Dog Days

Dog Days at Mid-Atlantic Border Collie Rescue

28 June 2008

So, I did want to give a Potter update.

Amazing what a difference a couple days make! Potter has easily transferred his trust gained by Angie to me, no effort on my part. Dave is still working on it, he quickly warms up to him, then goes through the whole process again and again...put gradually gaining! This is a little frustrating for Dave but he was very excited when they had a major play time this morning...it was great to see. Potter is spending less and less time "hiding" (he found a spot behind a chair in the kitchen that works for him). We did buy a crate...he sleeps in it at night, and Dave and I went out for 2 hours last night and he did fine in it.
He has "survived" several BIG adventures...to his surprise. Yesterday was his first day at work, he found refuge under the desk...peeking out often at my sister and excepting a treat from her and a little petting. He went for a nice hike the other day on a wooded trail and absolutely loved it...
I guess the most stressful thing for him is walking around town, so many unexpected noises and vehicles and people...oh my! This will be interesting to see how he progresses at.
He is doing fine with our yard, playing ball and hanging with us on the patio where we eat.
Yesterday our neighbors stopped by with their Jack Russell, Kiply. She was a little rough on him at first, but she'll ease up soon. She lives 2 doors down, so I think that may become a good friendship. Today Dave has him for the day, male bonding time, and they have taken a ride to Dave's parents, where they will go for a long walk on the tow path along the Delaware River. A place where many people and dogs walk...
Tomorrow is a day of more outside adventures...a little hiking and berry picking...

Nothing going on to be concerned with!

Lorrie
