Hey Sarah -
Well, I think it's safe to say we're all on a honeymoon. Nye has spent the entire afternoon walking around with a big, open-mouthed happy-dog grin on his face. His tail only tucked when he got fussed at for paying a liiiittle too much attention to Scuttle, the cat. But he only looked at her intently and made no effort to "investigate" at all. She's been fine with him - a good sign since she's always the very first to skedaddle to her tree in the basement at the first hint of anything she doesn't like. To the contrary, she's spent most of the evening in and out of our laps...and is presently rearranging all of the papers on my desk to get me to stop writing you and resume my scritching duties.
Hazzy seems to realize that Nye has had a rough go of it and has given him a complete pass from the usual territoriality we experience when Wolfie & Chaucer are here. While he gave us an uncertain look once or twice during the day, he has been overwhelmingly accepting of Nye, even voluntarily sharing his dried cow parts with him. He came over and played the recall game with us so he could get extra treats (rather than turning his back on us all and pouting). There hasn't even been any issue over eating out of the same dish; something Hazzy used to do with his mother. They both are relaxed, happy dogs.
Tomorrow we go for licenses, to make the vet appt. and to get the makings of a couple of new beds. Our boy looooooves to lie on soft spots. It's charming.Oh - and so far 100% housebreaking excellence. (Of course it's very early days, but we're very happy. He's interested in the dog door (though of course uncertain of it). Once he's got that down.....We're head over heels in love with this guy.
Once again your knack for placement scores huge. Thank you again and again.
I'll keep in touch - Karen
