Fencing and Donations update

Just a quick update on our fence situation (more photos and a real update coming soon). During ASB 2011, we were able to fully replace the fencing in the play yard which means great things for MABCR. We now have a place to safely exercise dogs that cannot otherwise be loose on the farm (and there are plenty!) and that don't have recall reliable enough to be allowed in the West Field.

We also replaced some of the fence on the north end of the West Field and have plans to complete the remainder over the next month or so.

We have added gates in an attempt to ease entry for our visitors, and will be adding an 'airlock' to the north end of the West Field to minimize escapees.

Why the quick update?? You were generous when I asked for help with the fencing project. We received a little over $1000 for the project, which was my initial estimate on the cost. However, due to increases in fuel and metal prices over the past year, my initial estimate (estimated last summer) was low. We also added the airlock for safety, which pushed the cost up as well and the project cost has more than doubled (more precise numbers in a few days).

The upside is that thanks to the generous assistance of our volunteers and the ASB Crew, most of the work has been completed and cost us no more than a few meals and lodging.

Today I am asking for your help with the money end. We need to raise the rest of the cost of the fencing quickly. The monthly bills are still coming, it matters not that we need to put money elsewhere. While our food is donated, we still have vetting and housing expenses and really need your help in order to not fall behind.

Please help. We appreciate it, but most of all, the dogs appreciate it.
