Adoption Update: Wes!

Hi Ladies-

Wes is doing absolutely wonderful.  The first evening he gave a few lonely barks at bedtime but quieted down with our first correction.  Crate training has been super easy as well.

We have been teaching him to do his business in a limited area.  Yesterday and today he hightailed it straight to the area without reminders and received tons of praise.  We make sure he does not get to play before business and have been teaching him sign language along with verbal commands.

My children are completely in love with him.  Wes allows them to snuggle with him while watching tv on the floor and loves to play ball with them.  He does a nighttime bed check and continued to do so even when they were visiting their grandparents for a few days.  When he couldn't find them in bed he searched the house.   It was very cute.

They are also very excited to be a part of training, even making up a list of what commands to use and their meanings.

I gave him a bath in the tub last night.  I can't believe how easy it was.  He shook in the tub but never went crazy and settled on a towel once he came out.  Amazing.

We are keeping him contained to a small area of our yard until he is trained.  A few neighbors wanted us to bring him over and we asked them to come to him so he didn't think their yard was part of his territory.

Wes did extremely well meeting our yappy dog neighbor.  As the other dog became a spaz, Wes simply stared at him and followed our commands.

Thank you so much for matching this special dog with our family.

I will definitely keep you in the loop.

Good luck to you all with the weather.  By the way,  Wes did very well with the earthquake.  He barked and whined several times before it hit to warn everyone and he stayed near the kids until it was over.

Dyan
