Adoption Update: Cassie

Hi Sarah,

Cassie has adjusted beautifully – it’s hard to believe we’ve only had her a little over a week. She has been a perfect match for our family. She was quick to learn “no chickens” although she tries to get a good run in to see them fly to the top of their coop. She still gets very excited when the cat walks in the room but a gentle yet firm “easy” command gets her to settle down and she was absolutely thrilled when the cat walked up to her and rubbed on her legs. My dachshund and Cassie are getting along well despite Chip still being crabby about having to share toys.

Cassie made her debut at our Halloween party and was loved by all – she did not care for the 6’ Frankenstein decoration on the front porch though and was determined that she would protect us all from him. I am still working on her fear of the boat and the dock – she jumped in the water after a few muskrats the other day – which is progress! We are babysitting my friends Australian Cattle Dog and Cassie loves the company of an active toy obsessed dog – but she’s more interested in herding him than playing with toys.

I’ll be enrolling her in basic obedience next week – we’ll keep you updated!

Kim
