Ok, trying to be cute there, not sure it really works…but…
MABCR needs help. We are a volunteer organisation driven by people who love border collies, and who want to help find misplaced border collies new homes. I know that you all ‘know’ that, but have you ever wondered what you could do to help?? There are so many things people can do to help, many of them free, and may are only a small investment of time and energy.
True, some of our volunteer jobs are more of an investment. Barbara Ellis spends many hours caring for our store. Maryellen Miller spends hours each week ensuring that our on-line staff stays well informed and organized. And you seriously do not want to know how much time I put in on a daily basis. But…
There are many jobs here that are a small investment and make a huge difference in the lives of our dogs. I am asking today that you consider what you can do to help. Chances are you are here because you adopted a dog through MABCR, wouldn’t it be great to help other people find their forever friend??
I have listed just a few of the volunteer ‘jobs’ we are in need of filling…
· Help run applications (we are in pretty desperate need of help there, it only takes an hour or so to run one, we ask that you run 2 to 4 applications a month)
· Do a home visit (an hour or two plus travel time)
· Write an article for the webpage or newsletter
· Take photos at an event or the farm
· Help keep petfinder updated
· Help with a mailing (a few hours, and I will feed you)
· Help with the store at an event (a few hours and you can usually take your dog)
· Purchase items from the store. Every penny raised supports our dogs!
· Run a donation drive (towels, detergent, etc) at your church or school.
· Mow grass at the farm for a few hours
· Unload food
· Clean kennels, help make repairs, weed, weed whack
· Walk dogs
· Bathe dogs
· And of course, make financial donations…
And thanks!!
