MABCR Fall Events

To All Border Collie People out there!

Here’s your chance to help raise money to care for unwanted Border Collies plus have a great time in the process! The MABCR store is going to be at three events in September, and we need volunteers to help set up the booth, staff it, sell merchandise at each event, and repack at the end of the event.

Please e-mail me at bwe@fast.net to ask questions or sign up to help. We ask that you volunteer for shifts of 3 to 4 hours at a minimum, but volunteers always have plenty of time to enjoy the event as well. Volunteering to help with the store booth is lots of fun and a great way to meet other MABCR adopters and volunteers. I hope you’ll consider helping us at one of these events! All funds raised by the MABCR store go toward caring for and re-homing Border Collies!

Here are the details:

September 4-5. The Virginia Scottish Games and Festival

Great Meadow, 5089 Tavern Road, The Plains, VA 20198. Event features sheepdog demonstrations, entertainment including the Glengarry Boys, and highland games along with fiddling and highland dance competitions. There’s also a British and antique car and motorcycle show..

Denise Sayer [auroracat1990@yahoo.com] is in charge of the booth for this event.

September 10, 11, 12. Green Lane Scottish and Irish Festival

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Green-Lane-PA/Montgomery-County-Scottish-Irish-Festival/417734800611

Green Lane Park, 2144 Snyder Rd. (Routes 29 & 63), Green Lane, PA, 18054. This is one of MABCR’s big fund-raisers of the year and it’s essential that we have plenty of volunteers to staff the booth! Events include highland games, dancing competitions, sheepdog demonstrations, and food, plus plenty of shopping.

September 18 through the 26th.. The USBCHA National Finals Sheepdog Trials.

http://www.nationalsheepdogfinals.com/

Belle Grove Plantation, 336 Belle Grove Road, Middletown, VA 22645. If you haven’t ever seen Border Collies in action—or if you have seen them and can’t get enough of it—come help staff the booth at this event, which is only in our area every few years. I promise there will be plenty of time for everyone to watch some of the competitive runs. Plus, the last time the USBCHA Nationals were in our area, the event proved to be a huge fund raiser for MABCR. Come help out and join the fun.

Barbara Ellis, bwe@fast.net , will be in charge of the booth for this event.

Please, Please, Please consider helping at one—or all—of these events!

Barbara Ellis
