Barbara:
So far, so good.
Marla seems to be getting along even better than we expected! She has taken to following Renee about like a puppy — which, or course, is what she is — although a bit larger than some. She has great skill in finding small crunchy things — like small plastic balls our cats played with years ago that were lodged under furniture. We worry about her crushing or swallowing pieces, so now we are looking for them, too. But I think she found most already.
She eats well, & poops very well. She & the cat have managed to befriend one another — although she is agile enough to get the to the cat’s food (the cat being a day/night long snacker). We’ll get this resolved.
Marla also loves chewing through halters — which clearly will now be used only when walking (if then). She has taken well to a leash, & seems to really enjoy our neighborhood more than we expected. She uses her cage, but seems to prefer the floor near us.
Marla has already demonstrated many more skills & welcome behaviors than Barkus ever did -- & she had 14 years to try, not just four days.I think I will write up the entire procedure for the HERALD-MAIL.
Dave & Renee
