Adoption Update: Cammie

Hi Angie,

Thought you might like to see Cammie as she enjoys being outside in the sunny dry weather.  She is fond of watching ground hogs as if they are her "sheep" and if   she decides they are moving from a spot she wants them in she takes off after them.  Of course they run for their burrow.

We continue to enjoy her.  She is really very good.  Every 3-4 months she goes to the groomer and tolerates that.  She is still anti-social with other dogs.  The place where she boards (the same as grooming) is good about avoiding other dogs during her play time.

Adoption Update: Cammie!

Hi Angie and Dave,

Cammie is quite a character !! Do I get a refund if I can prove she is part mountain goat?? (Just kidding) Yesterday morning I took her outside and playing ball for a substantial time. Coming back in I put the balls in paper towels and on the back of the dryer. I was ironing and heard a ruckus in the mud room. She was up on the dryer getting the balls. Very pleased with herself.

We have taken walks on the lead 2xday. Today was a mile and she does very well. We got close to a field used for horses (none in sight) another used for cows. She balked and refused to go further. I did not see the value in pushing it since we had reached our turning point. Any idea what that may have been about? (There was an electric fence but on the other side of the road.

Another interesting behavior--did you play with pillows with her or maybe have little pillow fights yourself?? On Sunday I fluffed a bed pillow and she went crazy jumping and running circuits around the bedroom obviously thinking it was play time. Today I was changing pillowcases and trying hard not to make any "fluffing noise" She still went crazy jumping up trying to getting the pillow and it continued as I attempted to carry bedding downstairs. I got her outside and we ran laps around the house until she settled. I'd love to play with her but not sacrifice bedding.

A learning experience for all of us. Jean

Adoption Update: Cammie!

Just to let you know Cammie is settling in very well. She did very well on the 2 hr car ride to Lebanon. She was very interested in the sights and sounds especially in going through Lancaster @9:30P on a Saturday night.

This AM she waited until we got up @6:30A and has been keeping us busy since then. Right now she is outside helping Rob wash the cars. Earlier she jumped in the drivers seat of a car Rob has in the garage and is working on--had left the door opened.

It's great to have a dog around again. Hope you will be able to come up and visit us and see her new home.

Thanks so much for taking the time to send us a note about Cammie. We have talked about her and what we “think” she may be doing all morning! I caught myself trying to be quiet when I let the upstairs dogs out this morning because that used to set her into a frenzy…it was like she was screaming, “HEY, don’t forget me!! I’m awake too and I need to go out!”

She is such the character…your description about jumping in the drivers seat does not surprise me at all. As a matter of fact, if you aren’t careful, she’ll try to manage your whole farm!!

Thanks again, and yes, we are very much looking forward to visiting with you and Cammie once she is settled in.

PS – I’m curious – where is her crate kept and did she stay quiet in there until you approached? She always has, but I’m curious if she tried to “work you” yet!

Adoption Update: Cammie!

Cammie went home last night!!

Rob seems to have a very natural way with her and a keen interest in teaching her new behaviors. For those of you who know Cammie…he CARRIED her out to the car – ROFL!

More good news is that the adopters have invited my husband and me to come and visit her! Once they are settled in, I’m sure we will take them up on that offer.

Cammie is a “special” dog and one of those fosters that will forever stand out as special to me and Dave.

We will miss her very much…I already started downstairs this morning by habit; but she has finally found a home of her own where she can learn how to be a “pet”. I can’t wait to hear the updates!
