Adoption Update: Jesse

Dear Auntie Sarah,

It’s been four weeks since you sent me off with the man and the woman on this new adventure, and I’m happy to tell you that it has been going well.  The people you sent me with have been good to me and there are three other dogs here.  Two of the dogs are pretty old (can you say “assisted living”?) but the other is okay. All of them ignored me for the first week, and the younger one was especially snitty, but after a week she came around and now we play serious bitey-face and smack-down (she gets P.O.d when I go in low for the feets).

The humans make sure I have plenty of fresh, cool water and fill my food bowl every time I empty it.  The other dogs leave my food alone (can’t say I return the favor!).  Last week the woman gave me a marrow (?) bone.  It was great.  I’m still carrying it around and chewing it.

My favorite place inside is the cool floor in the “powder room” (what’s powder?).

I’m starting to like my crate now, even though it’s pretty lonely and dark at night.  And they let me get up on something they call the dog sofa.  But I’m not allowed upstairs; he throws a regular fit if I sneak past the gate!

Outside, my favorite place is in the pachysandra.  Just like being in the jungle!!

I’ve been to the Pet Smart store – sniffed it all over. Lots of young kids too. And I’ve been to a local park to meet the man’s walking club friends. He says I’m a real babe magnet, whatever that means.

There’s lots of neighborhood dogs here, and they’re all friendly. Oh, the sniffs!! The man seems to make a big thing about my sitting to get my leash on before we go out and then off when we get ready to go in. Whatever! It rained tonight and I got to play in the river out front! And I tried to eat a worm, but the man took it from me.

Well, I’m starting to get sleepy so I think I’ll get in my crate. I’ll write again. TTFN.

Jesse
