Adoption Update: Bella (was Kate!)

Sarah,

3-Day update
Bella (Kate) is doing great.  You notice I said Bella.  I decided she is a really a smart girl and as I thought, by Day 2 she is responding to “Bella”.
The ride home was uneventful; she laid down about half way and chilled relaxing to CD “Dog Ease”.
Day 1, she quickly retreated to her crate when startled or not sure of herself.  I let her do that the first and second day firmly pulling her out when it was time for walk.  She quickly learned what the long red line was for and now happily bounds to the door.
Day 1 and Day 2, the tail was still tucked but by Day 3, not so much.  She is really a happy girl in the morning on her first walk and then jumps in her crate for breakfast.  I have not had to leash her to me as I thought I would have to do, she now follows me all around the house.
She has learned the frig produces amazing treats and seems to always be there when the door is opened.  Like you thought Sarah, she pushes herself right in between the dogs when everyone is getting petted and wants her turn.  She is now coming up frequently for just a pat on the head.
All in all, she is doing great and has come a long way in just 3 days.  My biggest problem seems to be that my Katie wants Bella’s downstairs crate and Zeus wants her upstairs crate.  So I frequently have to drag them out.
I took her up to my daughter’s house yesterday.  She has a fenced in yard, she investigated a little bit and then lay down behind my chair.
She has begun to chew on some toys and will get them out of the container.  I took her out by herself yesterday to throw a tennis ball but she was not interested.  I sure that will change later on.
She is doing great and I am very pleased with her progress.  I will send another update soon.
Thanks so much, she is a gem…….Karen
