Hi Sarah!
This one has been a while in coming, but I wanted to wait until Ash was recovered and I could send you some great, healthy-dog pictures.
Ben and I always talk about how much we love our dogs, and how little time it took to seem hard to believe it had been any other way. Roy and Ash are such constant sources of joy, fun, and companionship, it is impossible to estimate how much better our lives our by being shared with them.
Ash has almost fully recovered from her FHO, although I anticipate she's only going to continue to get stronger. Her leg, once a sad little chicken wing appendage, limply hanging, is now well-muscled, well-used, and is part of Ash's incredible knack for self-propulsion. I mean, wow, can that dog run fast! She zigs and zags, sprints, and jogs with abandon, although she does tend to lose just a BIT of focus when there's a squirrel in the mix. Ben and I have been jogging with the dogs for the past few months as well, which has only added to her stamina and strength.
It's been such a gift helping her get better, and I am so grateful to you for trusting us to guide her on the road to recovery. We've gotten such a fantastic animal in the deal, and it has been incredibly rewarding to see her progress in her healing, her training, and her maturity. Not to mention she's been so wonderful for Roy too (and vice versa!). Together they play, wrestle, dart for the ball, and slowly but surely walk on a tandem leash at the Farmer's Market (although it is quite obviously beneath Roy's dignity to be strapped to that rash young creature). Roy's trepidation and ugly-facing has pretty much faded away completely now that Ash works the crowd as our 'public border collie', receiving pats and attention while Roy gets a chance to warm up slowly.
Frankly put, they are wonderful. Ben and I sing MABCR's praises every chance we get, and we hardly need any better endorsement than our two lovely, well-adjusted, confident collies and their relaxed, happy owners. MABCR does much-needed work and has given us two fine animals that have made our little family complete.
Thank you a million times over for making this possible.
