It is that time of year again folks, we are in need of supplies for the kennel in preparation for the winter, especially towels and acrylic blankets.
This is something that you can help us with and it can cost you nothing! Well, nothing but a little time and energy…
Our most successful ‘collector’ posted to her local neighborhood and freecycle internet lists. She also asked church members and friends for assistance and included a list of ‘rescue needs’ along with her request for towels and boy did she get a response! She was allowed to have people leave donations at her church, and then she picked them up when she was there so they didn’t get in the way of anyone…Another collector scavenges the local thrift shop, who in turn got wind of what she was doing and now saves towels for her to give to us!
So, if you can help, please help with the following GENTLY used items:
Full sized bath towels
Acrylic or wool blankets, cut down to 6’ x 6’ or so
Fleece blankets or fabric cut to 6’ x 6’ or so
Twin sized comforters
Rubber backed bath mats in good condition (rubber must be intact)
Bound carpet squares (sample size is perfect for crates)
We CANNOT use:
Sheets, hand towels or wash cloths, curtains, torn or see through towels, cotton blankets
If you plan to collect, please be prepared with a few good sized boxes to pack things into. Please, please sort out things that we cannot use and donate them to a local source. If enough things are collected in a certain area to warrant it, I will come and collect them. Maybe geographic areas could get together and pool their resources? Feel free to use this list to network…
We can also always use the following:
Collars and leashes
Detergent (clothing and dish)
Disinfectant such as Mr Clean or Pine Sol
Brooms and dustpans, squeegees on long handles
Tennis balls, soccer balls and basket balls, we are currently in need of a couple of the LARGE (horse size) Jolly Balls with the handle.
Thanks for helping our dogs!
Sarah
